When ordering a translation it is important to formulate the text in the original language as well as you can. Don't think that the translator will sort everything out for you.

Make plain if you need a translation in which the most important point is the clarity of the final text, or if you want to present a text as a courtesy translation or in a bilingual publication where the translation must match as closely as possible the original text. This will obviously be the case with standards and norms (where I have a lot of experience) and also with legislation and contracts (here I usually provide texts for information purposes).

I take particular care in the case of lectures, talks and presentations to provide a text that you will be able to read - a trade-mark smooth translation.
